A Research and Development Unit has been set up in SIST. Its aim is to promote research and development activities among students and faculty. Facility exists for doing Main project and Mini project for EC, EI, EE and CS students in socially relevant areas and also useful to the college. Ongoing projects include Smart phone based developments, Data acquisition and instrumentation, Automation projects, etc.

Library is headed by Mr. Stanley James Pradeepam, MLISc, Asst. Librarian(Rtd.), University of Kerala. The library has a collection of over 10000 technical books, national/international journals, e-journals, and a collection of CDs and DVDs. The library works upto 8pm on working days to facilitate students make use of the same.

Separate hostel facility is available for boys and girls inside the campus. Presently accommodation is available for 400 students.

15 high tech buses are put into service for the beneit of students and staff.The routes cover all the major boarding points inside the city and suburbs of Thiruvananthapuram.

A full-ledged canteen caters to the requirements of students and staff. Two kiosks are available inside the campus for light refreshments like tea/coffee and snacks.
