Admission Procedure

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 This prospectus contains the rules and regulations applicable for selection and admission to B Tech courses in SIST run by SEWELS. 50% of the seats are illed from the list of the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Govt. of Kerala. The remaining seats are illed by the management without collecting any donation. The procedure for admission to all seats other than those for the children /dependents of NRI is also presented.

1.2 This prospectus is subject to modiication/addition/deletion as may be deemed necessary by the management subject to further orders if any, by Government/ AICTE/CUSAT/Court of Law.

3. CRITERIA OF ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

3.1 Candidate must be a citizen of India.

Academic : A Pass in higher secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Govt. Kerala or any examination equivalent thereto with at least ifty percent marks in Mathematics separately and ifty percent marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/ equivalent subjects put together or equivalent grade.

Lateral Entry : A pass in Diploma in Engineering awarded by the State Board of Technical Education or equivalent after undergoing regular course of 3 years in an approved Institution and having a minimum of 60 % marks in the inal year. Eligible candidates are admitted in third Semester.
3.2 Age : Applicant should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st Dec 2010. No relaxation of age will be allowed.
Lateral Entry : Maximum age as on the last date of submission of application will be 28 years.

4. HOW TO APPLY


4.1 The prospectus along with the application form can be obtained from the SIST city ofice, “PLRA- 184, Panachimoodu Lane, Near Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom Palace P.O., Thiruvananthapuram 695004, Phone 0471-2447220, 3295599, 9447096699”on payment of Rs-250/-.

4.2 Application can be submitted on the forms available with the prospectus

Application form can be downloaded from the website “www.sist.in”. Such applications have to be submitted along with a DD of Rs 250/-drawn in favour of The Principal, Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology, payable at Thiruvananthapuram.

4.3 The duly illed in application along with self attested copies of necessary documents should be submitted directly or by registered post with A/D to the college city ofice so as to reach the ofice on or before the prescribed date. Applicants shall obtain acknowledgement from the ofice for applications submitted directly.

4.4 Applications submitted to the ofice should be complete in all respects. The candidate should ill in all the items in the application form in his/her own handwriting.

4.5 The following self attested copies of certiicates/documents shall be submitted along with the application

a. 10th /12th certiicate in proof of date of birth.
b. Admit card of the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Govt. of Kerala
c. Mark list of qualifying examination and entrance examination.
d. Transfer Certiicate and Conduct Certiicate from the institution last attended, issued within the last six months from the date of application.

4.6 Selection for Management Quota will be strictly on merit, rank list published by commissioner entrance examination, Govt. of Kerala. Selected candidates have to appear for an interview before the inal selection without fail.


5. SCHOLARSHIPS

10 Scholarships will be given to eligible candidates belonging to the category Below Poverty Line (BPL).

6. ADMISSION

Selected candidates shall take admission at the scheduled time and date in the college after paying the tuition fee and other fees failing which the admission will be cancelled. The fee to be paid at the time of admission is as follows:

An additional sum of Rs-100/ should be paid by students who have qualiied from State Board Examination other than Kerala towards recognition fee.

6.2 Interest free refundable deposit of Rs- 1,00,000/ to be paid for the management seat.
6.3. Refund/adjustment of fees :
Fees paid may be adjusted/refunded as per AICTE norms. If a candidate leaves the college after the closure of admission, he will be liable for forfeiture of the fees and also will be liable to pay liquidated damages equivalent to four years’ tuition fee.

7. REDRESSAL OF GRIEVANCE


Any grievance/complaint regarding selection or admission may be brought to the notice of the management within 24 hours of occurrence of the grievance.


8. PROHIBITION OF RAGGING


Ragging /any type of misconduct towards any students either in the college campus or outside will be considered as criminal offence and will be seroiusly dealt with. Perpetrators will not be permitted to continue their studies. Students and parents, at the time of admission, should furnish an afidavit to the effect that the student shall not indulge in ragging which is a crime punishable under the existing law-which are well displayed everywhere in the campus on lex boards for awareness of students.
